Two years at the intro rate plus renewal still lands well under most entry cloud plans, but the second term is nearly double the first, so budget on $11.99 rather than $6.49.
The step up to KVM 2 (2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe) is $8.99/mo at a 63% discount off $24.49, renewing at $14.99/mo, and KVM 8 (8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB NVMe) is $25.99/mo against $73.99, renewing at $49.99/mo. On advertised rate alone that is the cheapest 4 GB box in this comparison, and the only one that bundles a backup snapshot at every price tier.
VPS-2 steps to 4 vCores, 8 GB RAM, 75 GB NVMe and a 1 Gbps port from $8.50/month, and VPS-3 is 6 vCores, 12 GB RAM from $12.32/month. The word to watch is "from": OVH's entry rates assume a commitment, and a month-to-month configuration can price above the advertised figure. The 500 Mbps port on the entry plan is also half the network of the tier above it, which matters if you are serving media rather than a website or API.

DigitalOcean and Hostwinds: cheap without a long commitment
Two providers here let you walk away without burning prepaid months.

At the promotional rate, S+ is $1.00 per GB of RAM, the best number in the table. Three months later it is $3.00 per GB, which is mid-pack. If your plan is to test a stack cheaply and then move, a 3-month discount inside a 1-year contract is a bad structure: you pay the regular rate for the remaining nine months.
